Dolly gifted us a new single titled "Don't Make Me Have to Come Down There" on Thursday, January 19, her 77th birthday. She said she was inspired to write the song after having a dream about God standing on a mountain top and saying, "Don't make me have to come down there." The single is available to buy or stream wherever you get your music. You can also listen in the video below. That's not the only new music from Dolly this week! The previously announced song from the 80 for Brady movie (starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, among others), "Gonna Be You", was released today, Friday, January 20. Correction: Dionne Warwick clarified Saturday, January 7, on Twitter that a release date has not been set for her duet with Dolly. Tamron Hall was mistaken when she said the duet was coming this month. So it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer to hear it!
Correction 2: It also appears that Rolling Stone had the release date for "Gonna Be You" incorrect. The song is scheduled for release Friday, January 20. News broke this week that there are two new Dolly songs coming this month. The first is a song titled "Gonna Be You". Written by Diane Warren for the upcoming film 80 for Brady, the song features Dolly, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, Belinda Carlisle, and Debbie Harry. Rolling Stone reported here that the song is scheduled to be released next Thursday, January 12. Dionne Warwick announced during an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show this week that she has a duet with Dolly coming out later this month titled "Peace Like a River". The exact release date for the Dolly-penned gospel song has not yet been announced. Read Rolling Stone's article about it here. Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, October 31, announced that he has a new duet with Dolly scheduled to be released this Friday, November 4. The single, "Almost Too Early for Christmas", marks Jimmy and Dolly's second collaboration together, following their cover of Mariah Carey's iconic Christmas song, "All I Want for Christmas Is You", from Dolly's 2020 album, A Holly Dolly Christmas. Jimmy Fallon will also appear with Dolly in her new television special, Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas, which will air December 1 on NBC. Watch Jimmy's announcement in the video below to hear a preview of the new single. Dolly and Kelly Clarkson's long-awaited "9 to 5" duet from the Still Working 9 to 5 documentary has finally been released. The Sam McAnally, Sasha Sloan, and King Henry-produced recording is a moody, slowed down take on Dolly's iconic number one hit. The track plays over the closing credits of the documentary, which will hopefully be available on streaming services before the end of the year. The single is available now on all digital music platforms. Take a listen below! |
