Sabyn Mayfield (b. June 16, 1981) is a filmmaker, actor, rapper, songwriter, and musician. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, to casting director Laray Mayfield and country singer Randy Parton. Sabyn attended Malibu High School and later graduated from the esteemed Los Angeles Film School in 2001, majoring in Directing and minored in Producing. During his time at Film School, Sabyn created a portfolio that included "Tears," a narrative short film featuring Michael Madsen, inspired by his poem of the same title.
Sabyn entered the music industry in 2004, and was booked for his first gig by Sean Healy Presents at The Knitting Factory. He has played many of the iconic venues in Los Angeles, including The Key Club, House of Blues, Whiskey, The Roxy, and the El Rey Theatre. |
Sabyn began his film career as a production assistant for various commercial production companies in Los Angeles. In 2004, he transitioned to the role of grip while working on the film Tennis Anyone. He began collaborating with his mother on casting commercials in 2009 and later branched out into film and television. His casting portfolio features commercials for major brands such as Nike, GAP, Coca-Cola, Lexus, BMW, and Footlocker.
In 2012, Sabyn shifted his focus towards directing, producing, and writing. He has directed music videos for various artists. His commercial projects encompass advertisements for both local and national brands, with a notable emphasis on a series of anti-bullying public service announcements aimed at organizations worldwide to promote awareness against bullying. Sabyn made his feature film directorial debut in 2017 with Boomtown. His subsequent film, Time Can't Be Wasted, was released in 2020.
Sabyn released his first solo single in 2010. "It's a Long Dark Road" is a country infused hip-hop song recorded in collaboration with Mike Baiardi of Soundfile Productions. The song was submitted for consideration as the theme song for the FX series Justified. Approached by the music supervisors of the MTV show Buckwild, Sabyn and Mike Baidari recorded an extended play titled Trailer Park VIP for the show in 2014 under the stage name The Redneckz. After the show was cancelled the album was picked up for the CMT show Party Down South. The duo released a second extended play, Barn Burner, in 2021.
In 2021, Sabyn released his debut solo EP, Halfway There. It features collaborations with his father Randy Parton and aunt Dolly Parton. Since then Sabyn has continued to record and release music. He has established his own publishing company, CashVillian Music, under BMI.
