​July 8, 2002: "Dagger Through the Heart" is released to Triple A radio as the first single from Dolly's thirty-ninth solo studio album, Halos & Horns. It would be sent to Country radio in August.

July 8, 2003: The Larkins release their eponymous debut album featuring Dolly on a cover of "Steady as the Rain", which was written by Dolly and originally recorded by her sister, Stella.

July 8, 2014: Mary Sarah released her second studio album, Bridges. Dolly is featured on a cover of "Jolene". The album peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart.

July 8, 2016: "Pure and Simple" is released as the first single from Dolly's album of the same name.

July 8, 2022: Positive Vibrations released a reggae cover of "Two Doors Down" featuring Dolly.

July 9, 2001: "Shine" is released as the fourth and final single from Dolly's thirty-eighth solo studio album, Little Sparrow. "Shine" won Best Female Vocal Performance at the 44th Annual Grammy Awards in 2002.

July 9, 2002: Dolly's thirty-ninth solo studio album, Halos & Horns, is released. The album peaked at number four on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. The album was nominated for the Best Country Album at the 45th Annual Grammy Awards in 2003.

July 10, 1972: "Washday Blues" is released as the first single from Dolly's tenth solo studio album, My Favorite Songwriter, Porter Wagoner. It peaked at number 20 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

July 12, 1982: The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack album is released. It peaked at number five on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and number 63 on the Billboard 200.

​July 12, 1982: "I Will Always Love You" (from The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack) and "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind" (from Dolly's Heartbreak Express) are released as a double A-single. "I Will Always Love You" peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind" did not chart on its own, but did chart as the flip side of "I Will Always Love You" on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

July 12, 2009: Yusuf (Cat Stevens) released "Roadsinger" and "Boots & Sand" (featuring Paul McCartney and Dolly) as a double A-side single from his Roadsinger album.

July 14, 2009: The cast album from 9 to 5: The Musical is released digitally. It would no be released on CD until two weeks later, on July 28.

    Blue Smoke is the forty-fourth solo studio album by Dolly Parton. It was released by Dolly Records and Sony Masterworks on January 31, 2014, in Australia and New Zealand; May 13, 2024, in North America; and June 9, 2014, in Europe. The release was staggered to coincide with each leg of the Blue Smoke Tour, which ran from January to July 2014, grossing over $20 million. The album was produced by Kent Wells with Dolly serving as executive producer. It peaked at number two on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and number six on the all-genre Billboard 200. Four singles were released from the album: "Blue Smoke", "Home", "Try", and "Unlikely Angel". At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, "You Can't Make Old Friends" was nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

    Administrator

    Ben Childers is the administrator of The Dolly Parton Discography. A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, he grew up taking family vacations to the Smokies and Dollywood. His love for Dolly and her music reached a fanatical level in April 2013. After spending countless hours researching and cataloging Dolly's musical output, he decided to open a website dedicated to her discography. His dream of meeting Dolly came true on May 23, 2024.
