"Better Move It on Home" is a single by Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton. It was released on January 25, 1971, by RCA Victor. It was written by Ray Griff and produced by Bob Ferguson. The single peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. It was nominated for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group at the 14th Annual Grammy Awards. It was later included on the 1971 compilation album, The Best of Porter Wagoner & Dolly Parton.

Both sides of the single were recorded on December 14, 1970, at RCA Studio B in Nashville, Tennessee.

Critical reception

The review in the February 6, 1971 issue of Billboard said, "That powerful duo team up once again for a top piece of rhythm material penned by Ray Griff. Has all the ingredients to put them right on top."

Cashbox also reviewed the single in their February 6, 1971 issued. The review said, "Porter and Dolly are starting 1971 with a bang." It predicted that the single "will become one of the best selling singles of the new year," describing it as "a great up-tempo number."

Commercial performance

"Better Move It on Home" debuted at number 30 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart dated February 27, 1971. It peaked at number seven on the chart dated March 27, its fifth week on the chart. It peaked at number six on the Cashbox County Singles chart. It also peaked at number eight in Canada on the RPM Country Singles chart.

Accolades

"Better Move It on Home" was nominated for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group at the 14th Annual Grammy Awards in 1972.
