The song was written by Carol Hall for the 1978 musical, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Dolly starred in the 1982 movie adaptation and recorded the song for its soundtrack, which became a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Rachel provided background vocals on several tracks on Dolly's Rockstar album.
