Background

"Peace Like a River" was written by Dolly in the 1980s, but she never released it. Although, a portion of the songs lyrics were featured on a greeting card from Dolly's Hallmark collection in the 1990s. Dolly told Robin Roberts in a February 7 interview on Good Morning America that she sent Dionne a demo of the song recorded in the 1990s and that she loved it and wanted to record it as a duet. Dionne called the song "Dolly's testimony" and a "song of inspiration."
