"Single Women" is a single by Dolly Parton. It was released on February 1, 1982, by RCA Records as the first single from Dolly's twenty-fourth solo studio album, Heartbreak Express. The song was written by Michael O'Donoghue and produced by Dolly and Gregg Perry. It peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. O'Donoghue wrote the song for a Saturday Night Live sketch and it was performed by Christine Ebersol on the October 10, 1981 episode.

Recording

"Single Women" was recorded on December 19, 1981, at Smoketree Recording Studio in Chatsworth, California. "Barbara on Your Mind" was recorded at the same studio on an unknown date.

Critical reception

Neither Billboard nor Cashbox formally reviewed the single. Billboard included it in the recommended section of the Top Single Picks in the February 13, 1982, while Cashbox included the single in the Hits Out of the Box section of their February 13 issue.

Commercial performance

​"Single Women" debuted at number 46 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart dated February 27, 1982. It peaked at number eight on the chart dated May 8, its eleventh week on the chart, and remained there for one additional week. The single charted for 17 weeks. It also peaked at number eight on the Cashbox Country Singles chart. The single peaked at number one in Canada on the RPM Country Singles chart.
