Critical reception
"It's All Wrong, But It's All Right" was reviewed in the February 11, 1978 issued of Billboard and Cashbox magazines. The Billboard review said, "Parton dips back into her own catalog for this easy flowing romantic release rendered with her smooth and sensual vocal expression. Acoustic and electric piano set the initial mood that is taken to climactic levels with the generous use of strings and vocal accompaniment in the chorus." Cashbox said, "Despite the growing sophistication which surrounds every aspect of Dolly's career, her basic roots remain seeded in the soil of country music. Picked from her Here You Come Again album, this cut may go pop, but it belongs high on the country charts."
Both publications reviewed "Two Doors Down" the following week. Billboard said, "Parton follows her gold "Here You Come Again" with another catchy tune, a current top 10 country hit for RCA's Zella Lehr. Parton's vocals alternate between a soft, girlish, singsong quality and a louder, more gutsy approach. The instrumentation is strong and rousing, relying heavily on drums and guitar. The Cashbox review said, "A strong hook, excellent lead and backing vocals, and a romping drum beat distinguish this jumpy cut taken from Here You Come Again. With pleasant exuberance, Dolly brings the party to her place. Fine Top 40 add."
