Critical reception
The single was reviewed in the April 21, 1990 issue of Billboard magazine. The review said, "Dolly carefully touches this number with her gleaming vocal character while singing of a down-home girl dreaming of and choosing the glitzy Hollywood road. Could this be autobiographical?"
Commercial performance
"White Limozeen" debuted at number 75 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart dated May 12, 1990. It peaked at number 29 on the chart dated June 30, its eighth week on the chart. It charted for 12 weeks. The single also peaked at number 19 on the Cashbox Country Singles chart and number 47 in Canada on the RPM Country Singles chart.
