Things got a little crazy for me throughout January and February. We had a week of snow and ice in my hometown (and if you're from the South you know that means the whole world shut down), then I had the flu, my grandmother was in the hospital for a week, and then I had to get a new car. During that time Dolly stayed busy like always, releasing several singles and contributing to some other albums as well. To make a long story short, I got a little overwhelmed and lost track of posting about the new releases. I'm finally catching up on posting about these as I sit in my hotel in Pigeon Forge anticipating seeing Dolly at the media event at Dollywood's Season Passholder Preview Day tomorrow. We'll get started with the most recent release first and work our way back! March 8, 2023: Dolly Duets with Zach Williams on "Lookin' for You"Zach Williams re-recorded his song "Lookin' for You" from his A Hundred Highways album as a duet with Dolly. The new single appears on the Extended Edition of his album. Dolly sounds fantastic throughout the track. The music video was released alongside the single and album and Dolly looks absolutely stunning! Check it out below! February 23, 2024: Dolly and Melissa Manchester Duet on "Midnight Blue"Melissa Manchester re-recorded her hit song "Midnight Blue" as a duet with Dolly for her RE:VIEW album. The song was released as a single alongside the album on February 23. The song's music video was released the same day. Check it out below! February 21, 2024: Dolly Re-Records Her Very First SingleDolly released a new version of her 1959 debut single, "Puppy Love". The track is subtitled "Billy Version" in honor of her god-dog, Billy. It was released to coincide with Dolly's CBS special, Dolly Parton's Pet Gala, where she performed the song in addition to other hits. February 15, 2024: Dolly Raps with Pitbull on "Powerful Women"Dolly joins rapper Pitbull for a semi-new track titled "Powerful Women". The new song features Pitbull rapping alongside newly recorded vocals from Dolly performing the iconic "9 to 5" and also raping a few verses of her own! It's an incredibly fun new take on a classic song and a great tribute to "powerful women" everywhere! February 2, 2024: Alternate Mix of "Free Bird" ReleasedDolly's first release of the year following the Deluxe Edition of Rockstar, which was released on her birthday, is still semi-Rockstar released. We are treated to an alternate mix of "Free Bird" on the Artimus Plye Band's Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute, Anthems: Honoring the Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd. This mix is identical to the version on Rockstar except the archival vocals from Ronnie Van Zant have been removed and Dolly now performs this verse. Take a listen below! |
