The first single from Olivia Newton-John's posthumous album, Just the Two of Us: The Duets Collection, Volume One, was released today (February 17). The single is a duet with Dolly on her 1974 song "Jolene". Olivia previously recorded a solo version on her 1976 album, Come On Over. News first broke that Dolly and Olivia had recorded a song together back in October 2021, when Kelly Lang mentioned in her book, I'm Not Going Anywhere, that she had recorded a song for the upcoming album and noted that Dolly had also recorded with Olivia. The new recording marks Dolly's eighteenth officially released version of the song, including studio versions, live recordings, and remixes. The full album will be released on May 5, 2023. You can hear the single now or watch the music videos below. The album is available for pre-order now on CD, LP, digital download, or streaming wherever you get your music!

Dolly has recorded a solo version of "The Last Thing on My Mind" for an upcoming Doc Watson tribute album. The single was released today, February 16, through all digital retailers by FLi Records and Budde Music. Doc Watson would have celebrated his centennial on March 3, and the tribute album, I Am a Pilgrim: Doc Watson at 100, will be released on April 28. Written and orignally recorded by Tom Paxton in 1964, "The Last Thing on My Mind" was Dolly and Porter Wagoner's first duet single in October 1967. Doc Watson recorded the song for his 1966 album, Southbound. Dolly and Doc performed the song together during MerleFest in 2001. In a press release Dolly said, "Doc Watson is everyone’s hero and a great guitar player. Some say he is the absolute best, and I was honored to get to work with him a few times in my career." The album was executive produced by Mitch Greenhill, Matthew Greenhill, and Peer Steinwald.

Take a listen to Dolly's new solo version below, in addition to Tom Paxton's original, Doc Watson's 1966 recording, Porter and Dolly's 1967 duet, and see the video of Dolly and Doc performing the song during a rehearsal for MerleFest in 2001.

Correction: Dionne Warwick clarified Saturday, January 7, on Twitter that a release date has not been set for her duet with Dolly. Tamron Hall was mistaken when she said the duet was coming this month. So it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer to hear it!

Correction 2: It also appears that Rolling Stone had the release date for "Gonna Be You" incorrect. The song is scheduled for release Friday, January 20.

News broke this week that there are two new Dolly songs coming this month. The first is a song titled "Gonna Be You". Written by Diane Warren for the upcoming film 80 for Brady, the song features Dolly, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, Belinda Carlisle, and Debbie Harry. Rolling Stone reported here that the song is scheduled to be released next Thursday, January 12.

Dionne Warwick announced during an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show this week that she has a duet with Dolly coming out later this month titled "Peace Like a River". The exact release date for the Dolly-penned gospel song has not yet been announced. Read Rolling Stone's article about it here.

Both sisters provided harmony vocals on "Seven Bridges Road" and "Marry Me" from Dolly's Little Sparrow album (2001), background vocals on "Better Get to Livin'" from the Backwoods Barbie album (2008), "Just Leaving" and "Together You and I" from the Better Day album (2011), "Unlikely Angel" and "Don't Think Twice" from the Blue Smoke album (2014), and "Driven" from Run, Rose, Run (2022).
