Dolly's Rockstar album was certified Gold by the RIAA on Tuesday, March 12, for 500,000 album equivalent units (physical/digital sales and streams). The album marks Dolly's most recent album to receive a certification from the RIAA, following Trio II in 2001. Rockstar qualified for a Gold award after selling roughly 240,000 copies. Due to its length each 2-disc CD and 2-tape cassette copy sold counted twice, while each copy of the 4xLP version counted as 4 units. Dolly said in a statement about the achievement, "When I set out to make my rock album, I always hoped it would be embraced by my fans as well as people who may not listen to my music. I am thrilled to receive this Gold record! Thank you to everyone who was a part of this project. I guess I can now officially say I am a rockstar!"
The certification of Rockstar brings Dolly's total US certified units to 28,500,000 and her worldwide total to 38,665,000. For a complete listing of Dolly's certifications click here! |
