September 5, 1977: Linda Ronstadt released her eighth solo studio album, Simple Dreams. Dolly provides harmony vocals on "I Never Will Marry". The album peaked at number one on the ​Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

September 8, 1969: Dolly released her fourth solo studio album, My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy. The title track was released as the album's third single on the same day. The album peaked at number six on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, while the single only reached number 45 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

September 8, 1975: "We Used To" is released as the second single from Dolly's sixteenth solo studio album, Dolly. The single reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

September 8, 2008: "Gold", from Emmylou Harris' ​All I Intended to Be album, is released as a single in Europe. The song features harmony vocals by Dolly and Vince Gill.

September 9, 1968: Porter and Dolly's second collaboration album, Just the Two of Us, is released. The album peaked at number five on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

September 9, 2008: Jessica Simpson released her sixth studio album, ​Do You Know. Dolly is featured on the title track, which she also wrote. The album peaked at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

September 9, 2016: The Complete Trio Collection is released. The set features Dolly, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt's two collaboration albums, Trio and Trio II, in addition to a third disc containing unreleased songs and alternate takes. The collection peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

September 11, 1990: Kenny Rogers released his nineteenth solo studio album, Love Is Strange. The title track is a duet with Dolly. The album peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

September 11, 2015: Jewel's twelfth studio album, Picking Up the Pieces, is released. It features a duet with Dolly on "My Father's Daughter". The album peaked at number one on the Billboard Folk Albums chart.

    The Grass Is Blue is the thirty-seventh solo studio album by Dolly Parton. It was released on October 26, 1999, by Sugar Hill Records and Dolly's own Blue Eye Records. The first in Dolly's critically acclaimed bluegrass trilogy, it was produced by Steve Buckingham. It peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Two singles were released, "A Few Old Memories" and "Silver Dagger". The album won Best Bluegrass Album at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards.

    Administrator

    Ben Childers is the administrator of The Dolly Parton Discography. A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, he grew up taking family vacations to the Smokies and Dollywood. His love for Dolly and her music reached a fanatical level in April 2013. After spending countless hours researching and cataloging Dolly's musical output, he decided to open a website dedicated to her discography. His dream of meeting Dolly came true on May 23, 2024.
