October 17, 1977: Herb Pedersen released his second studio album, Sandman. The album includes two songs that feature Dolly. She provides harmony vocals on "Cora Is Gone" and appears as a member of the Howdy-Cracker Vocal Revue on "If I Lose".​

October 18, 1971: "Burning the Midnight Oil" is released as the second single from Porter and Dolly's seventh collaboration album, The Right Combination • Burning the Midnight Oil​. It peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

October 18, 2005: Martina McBride released her eighth studio album, Timeless. Dolly is featured on a cover of Johnny Cash's "I Still Miss Someone". The album peaked at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

October 18, 2016: Dolly's children's book, Coat of Many Colors, based on her song of the same name, is re-released with new artwork. The book includes a free download of the song "Makin’ Fun Ain’t Funny". This early version of the song differs from the version released on her 2017 album, I Believe in You.

October 19, 2004: Rod Stewart released his Stardust: The Great American Songbook, Volume III album. It features Dolly on a duet of "Baby, It's Cold Outside". The album peaked at number one on the Billboard 200.

October 20, 2015: Rhonda Vincent released her Christmas Time album. Dolly appears on "Twelve Days of Christmas" along with Charlie Daniels, The Oak Ridge Boys, Ronnie Milsap, Gene Watson, Bill Anderson, Larry Gatlin, Jeannie Seeley, Lorrie Morgan, and Pam Tillis. The album peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

October 21, 1997: The Annabelle’s Wish soundtrack album is released. Dolly contributed two songs to the project, "Silent Night" and "Something Bigger Than Me". The album peaked at number 75 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

October 21, 2020: The Susan G. Komen charity single, "Pink", is released. Dolly appears alongside Monica, Jordin Sparks, Rita Wilson, and Sara Evans.

October 23, 2007: Bill Anderson released his Whisperin’ Bluegrass album. It includes a duet with Dolly on "My Perfect Reason".

    Blue Smoke is the forty-fourth solo studio album by Dolly Parton. It was released by Dolly Records and Sony Masterworks on January 31, 2014, in Australia and New Zealand; May 13, 2024, in North America; and June 9, 2014, in Europe. The release was staggered to coincide with each leg of the Blue Smoke Tour, which ran from January to July 2014, grossing over $20 million. The album was produced by Kent Wells with Dolly serving as executive producer. It peaked at number two on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and number six on the all-genre Billboard 200. Four singles were released from the album: "Blue Smoke", "Home", "Try", and "Unlikely Angel". At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, "You Can't Make Old Friends" was nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

    Administrator

    Ben Childers is the administrator of The Dolly Parton Discography. A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, he grew up taking family vacations to the Smokies and Dollywood. His love for Dolly and her music reached a fanatical level in April 2013. After spending countless hours researching and cataloging Dolly's musical output, he decided to open a website dedicated to her discography. His dream of meeting Dolly came true on May 23, 2024.
