October 3, 1977: Dolly's nineteenth solo studio album, Here You Come Again, is released. The album peaked at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and made it to number 20 on the Billboard 200. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA in April 1978 for shipment of 1,000,000 copies.

October 3, 1983: Ricky Skaggs released his sixth studio album, Don’t Cheat in Out Hometown. The album features harmony by Dolly on two tracks: "A Vision of Mother" and "Don't Step Over an Old Love". It peaked at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA in October 1984 for shipment of 500,000 copies.

October 3, 1994: "To Daddy" is released as a single from Dolly's live album, Heartsongs: Live from Home. The audience applause from the album version has been edited out of the single version so that it sounds like a studio recording. While "To Daddy" didn't chart, its B-side, "PMS Blues", peaked at number 70 on the Billboard Hot County Songs chart.

October 3, 2019: Zach Williams released his duet with Dolly, "There Was Jesus", as the second single from his Rescue Story album. The single peaked at number one on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart and won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song in 2021.

October 4, 1971: Dolly released her eighth solo studio album, Coat of Many Colors. The album peaked at number seven on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. It was nominated for Album of the Year at the 1972 CMA Awards and was certified Gold in Australia in 2021 for 35,000 certified units.

October 4, 2011: Chicago released their Christmas album, Chicago XXXIII: O Christmas Three. The album features Dolly on a cover of Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas Time". The album peaked at number 170 on the Billboard 200.

October 4, 2019: Zach Williams released his Rescue Story album which features Dolly on the song "There Was Jesus". The album peaked at number two on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. It was also nominated for Top Christian Album at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.

October 5, 1999: Vestal Goodman released her Vestal & Friends album. It features Dolly on the track "Satisfied".

October 5, 2004: The bluegrass Christmas compilation album Christmas Grass, Vol. 2 is released. Dolly contributed "Christmas Time's a Comin'" to the project.

October 7, 2002: Dolly's cover of the Bread song "If" is released in the UK as second single from her Halos & Horns album. It peaked at number 73 on the UK Singles Chart.

October 8, 2013: Kenny Rogers released what would become his final studio album of original material, You Can't Make Old Friends. It features a duet with Dolly on the title track. The album peaked at number nine on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

October 8, 2021: Reba McEntire released her Revived Remixed Revisited project. Her duet with Dolly on an updated version of "Does He Love You" is issued as a single the same day. The album peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, while the single only made it to number 47 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

October 9, 2007: The Charlie Daniels Band released their Deuces album. It features a duet with Dolly on the song "Daddy's Old Fiddle". The album peaked at number 67 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

​October 9, 2007: Deana Carter released her sixth studio album, The Chain. Dolly is featured on a cover of her 1974 song "Love Is Like a Butterfly". The album peaked at number 60 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

    Dumplin' (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack album to the 2018 film the same name. It was released on November 30, 2018, by Dolly Records and RCA Records. It was produced by Linda Perry. The album peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot Country Albums chart. The album's release was preceded by three singles: "Here I Am", "Girl in the Movies", and "Jolene (New String Version)". The release was promoted with a CMT television special titled Dolly & Friends: The Making of a Soundtrack.

    Administrator

    Ben Childers is the administrator of The Dolly Parton Discography. A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, he grew up taking family vacations to the Smokies and Dollywood. His love for Dolly and her music reached a fanatical level in April 2013. After spending countless hours researching and cataloging Dolly's musical output, he decided to open a website dedicated to her discography. His dream of meeting Dolly came true on May 23, 2024.
