In honor of June 3 (Bobbie Gentry Day), here's a rare, early performance by Dolly at the Opry. Dolly covered Bobbie Gentry's "Ode to Billie Joe" live on the Grand Ole Opry on October 7, 1967. This was Dolly's first night performing at the Opry since her debut in 1959. This recording is taken from the syndication LP Grand Ole Opry (Show No. 482). Only a small number were pressed, so it is extremely rare, selling on eBay for over $250. June 4, 1973: "If Teardrops Were Pennies" is released as the only single from Porter Wagoner and Dolly's tenth collaborative studio album, Love and Music. The single peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. June 6, 1966: "The Little Things" is released as a single. It would be Dolly's final pop-leaning single for Monument before the release of her breakout single, "Dumb Blonde" in November 1966. June, 8, 1970: The compilation album, As Long as I Love, is released. It is comprised of recordings Dolly made before she left Monument for RCA in late 1967.
