​April 2, 1973: Dolly's eleventh solo studio album, My Tennessee Mountain Home, is released. The album peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

April 2, 2001: "A Tender Lie", "Bluer Pastures", and "Seven Bridges Road" are released simultaneously to country, bluegrass, and Americana radio as singles from Dolly's thirty-eighth solo studio album, Little Sparrow.

April 2, 2012: The DVD + CD An Evening With…Dolly is released exclusively to Cracker Barrel stores. The set is a reissue of the 2009 Live from London CD + DVD (although the 2012 CD is abridged with two bonus tracks added). It has been certified Gold by the RIAA.

April 2, 2021: Leslie Jordan released his Company's Comin' album. He duets with Dolly on "Where the Soul Never Dies".

April 3, 1978: "Tumbling Dice" and "I Never Will Marry" are released as a double A-side single from Linda Ronstadt's Simple Dreams album. "I Never Will Marry" features harmony vocals by Dolly and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

April 4, 1980: "Me and Little Andy", from Dolly's nineteenth solo studio album Here You Come Again, is released as a single in the UK.

April 6, 1959: "Puppy Love", Dolly's very first single, is released by Goldband Records.

April 6, 2018: The tribute album Restoration: Reimagining the Songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin is released. It features a cover of the song "Please" by Dolly and Rhonda Vincent. The album peaked at number four on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

April 7, 1986: "Tie Our Love (In a Double Knot)" is released as the fourth and final single from Dolly's twenty-seventh solo studio album, Real Love. The single peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

April 7, 2017: Pentatnonix released their PTX, Vol. IV: Classics extended play. It includes their Grammy-winning cover of "Jolene", which features Dolly. The EP peaked at number four on the Billboard 200.

April 7, 2023: Dolly re-released "Berry Pie" as a digital single. She joined the social media platform TikTok in December 2022 and used the song in her first post on the platform after which it gained popularity. The song had previously been released on the Cracker Barrel edition of her 2008 album Backwoods Barbie.

    Blue Smoke is the forty-fourth solo studio album by Dolly Parton. It was released by Dolly Records and Sony Masterworks on January 31, 2014, in Australia and New Zealand; May 13, 2024, in North America; and June 9, 2014, in Europe. The release was staggered to coincide with each leg of the Blue Smoke Tour, which ran from January to July 2014, grossing over $20 million. The album was produced by Kent Wells with Dolly serving as executive producer. It peaked at number two on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and number six on the all-genre Billboard 200. Four singles were released from the album: "Blue Smoke", "Home", "Try", and "Unlikely Angel". At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, "You Can't Make Old Friends" was nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

    Administrator

    Ben Childers is the administrator of The Dolly Parton Discography. A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, he grew up taking family vacations to the Smokies and Dollywood. His love for Dolly and her music reached a fanatical level in April 2013. After spending countless hours researching and cataloging Dolly's musical output, he decided to open a website dedicated to her discography. His dream of meeting Dolly came true on May 23, 2024.
